Buy to Let Investors Return to Housing Market
Buy to Let investors have returned to the housing market, with 10% of all new mortgages advanced in the first quarter of 2011, being advanced to investors, up 42% on 2010. There has also been a doubling of the number of mortgages available to investors in the past year.Rising rents have also helped fuel this increase, as potential buyers increasingly find property unaffordable, particularly in London. Concerns are growing that buy to let investors will increasingly squeeze out first time buyers, many of whom find mortgage finance very difficult to secure.
